Personality
I worked with developmentally disabled children and young adults for 13 years and served the elderly for 2 years while I was in college. The experience of caring for these individuals showed me that value and wisdom can reside in the most unexpected place, and that human joy and strength in the face of adversity are nearly boundless.

I got teased for being different and for being an open-hearted artistic loner as a child. I'm still different, so perhaps all that teasing amounted to nothing.

I'm a total junkie for second-hand clothes - On any random day if I consider what I've put on I'm always wearing something I got from a thrift shop.

I often read Shakespeare out loud when I'm home by myself. I have a soft spot for tiny and helpless creatures - People laugh at me but I walk around ants on the sidewalk and move worms out of the way if I might drive over them. I've been like this since I was a little girl so I suppose it would be difficult to change by now. Word to the wise: I'm kind of an oddball. I'm easy to get to know but hard to live with. I cry randomly and have those pouty, sad down-in-the-dumps moments, but for every tear there are twenty giggles.

I've written and published music and poetry but don't do that for a living (of course - how would that pay the rent?). I have a small business painting decorative murals for residential homeowners and small-business owners. I work as a private nanny with several gifted and engaging children. I've founded a folk band as co-lead vocalist. I'm also painting a series of odd but likeable characters from my own imagination. Since they're an amalgam of humans and animals, I thought I would call them 'humanimals' but some alternative band thought of that a year or so before it ever came to me.

I'm really good at apologizing. Silly voices and accents. Being a child among children. Keeping the baby's attention. Singing. Appreciating the little things. Staying positive. Daydreaming. Laughing. Playing piano. Getting lost when I have the directions. Making faces. Tickling. Spontaneous dancing. Recycling. Forgiving. Traveling alone. Recalling entire favorite movie scenes. Hiking. Procrastinating. Seeing others as equals. Oh yeah, and I've been told I can write a wicked profile, lol.

My favorite tomes: 'The Complete Works' of Shakespeare, 'Questions for the Soul" by Keith W. Kraseman, 'The Hobbit' by J.R.R. Tolkien. 'Credo' by William Sloane Coffin and 'It's Not Easy Being Green' by Jim Henson and Friends - any book of poetry by Pablo Neruda, Mary Oliver, Sylvia Plath, Weldon Kees, Robert Lowell, Shell Silverstein, Federico Garcia Lorca or Erica Jong.
Tinseltown: 'Neverland', 'Amelie', 'Fellowship of the Ring', 'The Black Stallion', 'The Dark Crystal', 'Contact', 'The Muppet Movie', 'Il Postino', 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind', 'Little Women', 'Babel', 'Iron Giant', 'Star Wars IV, V & VI, 'Wings of Desire' (German version), 'Much Ado About Nothing', 'Nobody's Fool', 'Braveheart', 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon', 'Kingdom of Heaven' - anything Cirque de Soleil-related: any Studio Ghibli film (especially 'Spirited Away' and 'Castle in the Sky'), 'The Wizard of Oz', 'Touch the Sound (percussion documentary), 'Rivers and Tides' (sculpture documentary), and 'Born into Brothels: Calcutta's Red Light Children'.
Tunes: Too many. Simply too many.
Tidbits: Vegetarian cuisine of any kind mostly, and dark chocolate.

I love the dimming of the lights just before the play starts, crave speaking without words, adore the first rumble of thunder before a storm, swoon for Jeff Buckley music and savor strawberries. I enjoy driving in the rain at night (if I'm in someone else's car), have a weakness for acoustic guitars, can't wait for twilight, fondly remember sweet somethings (as opposed to sweet nothings), ache for honesty, self-knowledge and spirituality. I get turned on by red velvet seats in an old theater, spontaneous inexpensive evenings, mutual uncontrolled laughter, a warm room surrounded by falling snow, airline tickets to faraway places, environmentalism, kindness to animals, kept promises, a luminous smile, charity, talent, a sense of adventure, dressing up on Halloween and taking off gloves to hold bare hands in the cold.

Disclaimer: I am one of those ^strange^ people who chooses not to have a car, which makes even short-distance relationships *interesting* if you're the one driving all the time. I would prefer to meet someone within the Ann Arbor city limits, because that way I can at least 'drive' to you on my bike every other time and save you some gas...

PS - It kind of cracks me up that so many of you guys take pictures of yourselves shirtless in a mirror with your camera phones. A big heart beats big pectorals any day in my book, but I suppose there's nothing wrong with advertising your abs if you've worked hard for them...
