Hi. I'm Jeff. I just completed my first year of Law School at Lewis and Clark. I relocated to Portland from Washington, DC, where I attended Georgetown University. I love meeting new people, and am attempting to establish a social life beyond Law School.
By most accounts, I'm very well rounded. I can be somewhat of an intellectual, but I'm also known for my infectious humor.
Behind my laid-back demeanor, many are surprised to find out that just how far I've come in my life. I'm the son of an alcoholic father, and drug-addicted mother. My only brother was killed when two police officers mercilously shot him 13 times before he died at the young age of 25. My oldest sister dropped out of school during her nineth grade year of high school, and my youngest sister suffered brain damage due to my mom's decision to smoke during her pregnancy. Most of my immediate family has been on the wrong side of the law at one time or the other. I grew up in the inner-city, where my daily struggle not to be another statistic prevented me from seeking refuge in the innoncence of youth.
With the love and support of my maternal grandmother and aunt, I was able to channel my frustrations into my god-given cognitive strengths. My early life wasn't easy, but I am humbled by my triumph in the face of the peceived, insurmountable obstacle of inner-city life.
As I look forward to my promising future as an attorney, and public servant, I will never forget where I came from and all the people who encouraged me to pursue higher education. I am living proof that higher education is available to at-risk youth, and that being born into poverty and adversity does not have to be a life sentence.
