I am a contradiction in terms, make no mistake of that. On the one hand, I am the consummate academic. I read every day, write both professionally and simply for the heck of it in blogs ranging from everything to our current political climate to the woeful state of my beloved Cleveland Indians. I am also a nerd, or a dork, or a dweeb, since I've never been quite clear on what the differences are between those particular classifications. I love video games, fantasy novels and science fiction. I own the entire series of Stargate SG-1 on DVD, among other equally lame-sounding shows. But that is not all that makes me who I am. I am also athletic. I exercise daily, take forty mile hikes around the region and love to play sports. My personality takes its cues from this as well, as I am known for being both quiet and outgoing. Most of the time, I keep to myself yet I am frequently described as the life of the party. I make friends as easily as most individuals cross the street. I am fearless, which at times in my life has been as much of a flaw as a positive. I am a smart-alleck, a know-it-all and I have a tendency to argue even when I myself recognize I am in the wrong.
I'm looking for a woman who can give as good as she gets, one who will not let me get away with pretending to know what the hell I'm talking about most of the time. But kindness is also important, for I cannot abide those who insult people for simply being the way they are. Body type has no relevance to me, personality is far more important and if a woman impresses me with her mind than I guarantee I will be physically attracted to them. Realistically, a somewhat childish sense of humor would be appreciated. I don't expect there to be an individual who likes all of the things I do, but it would be nice if we match up on at least a couple of things. Also, it would be great to have someone who could accompany me on these hikes, (friend, girlfriend, acquaintence) as most of my friends rightfully feel that I am completely nuts for walking that far at one time.
In short, (and boy, was this not short) I would be honored to find a woman who could except me for the unique (i.e. weird) person I am and I swear that if that woman existed I would accept her through all of her strengths and weaknesses as well. See, I told you I was a romantic.
