I waited a long time to marry. There were a lot of possibilities along the way, but I kept waiting for the right one. And then the right one came along, and I found myself totally unprepared for love. This would be where that hindsight thing comes in. She loved me with all her heart, yea, now I figured it out. I didn't know that when you love someone, that there are no secrets, you share your thoughts, feelings, and dreams with that person. I'm sorry to say that I didn't do it that way, and I lost something very precious to me and I'll never have a second chance. But I did learn about love, and just how wonderful a thing it is. We've all been at that point where we wonder if we'll ever find love again, after 2 years, I can say that I really believe I will. I stopped looking for a replacement, because those poor souls didn't have a chance. You can't replace a great love, you have to find it all over again. The memories I have will always be with me, but I'm ready to create new ones, maybe even better ones. So if you want to start helping me create some awesome memories, I enjoy exploring new places, back roads and places off the beaten path. I like to camp and hike, I ride my bike to and from work, and sometimes stray off the route on the way home.I have a minivan, that's what I got out of the divorce, but i'd rather ride my bike. I make much less now, but I feel free, have more time, more energy, and less stress. I have no bad habits, except golf. And I'm really bad at it, but I seem to give other golfers a sense of achievement. I believe I have a great sense of humor and live by two rules: 1) don't sweat the small stuff. 2) it's all small stuff. My one weakness is my granddaughter, I go to Seattle regularly to give in to her every desire. She is much more fun than her father ever was, (who incidentally just finished his 2nd tour of iraq and is now in cuba). I pray that mess ends soon. I love the outdoors, I have a hard time being couped up indoors. I enjoy camping, but have been known to cheat by using a motor home. I don't have one at the present time, but my ex-wife still has one, funny how that works sometimes. I have been quitting smoking for the last 10 years, cut back quite a bit, but just haven't been able to completely put them down. So I still smoke about 5-6 a day, most people don't even know I do. But I haven't given up. I don't smoke around non-smokers and I don't smoke indoors. I've tried the gum and the patch, but they were both too hard to keep lit.
I try very hard to be as honest as possible, but since I'm not perfect, you might not always like the answers. I'd rather admit to something that would get me in trouble than to have to worry about keeping up with lies and chance hurting someone. Learned that lesson over the years. To me that's part of keeping life simple.
God is a very important part of my life, but I'm not a fanatic and I believe he wants us to have fun while we're here. And I do like to have fun, as long as it's legal and somewhat safe. As if life itself is safe... Also, I like to cook. Not great at it, but it's edible for the most part. The stray dog in the park has never complained anyway, but he does seem to be losing his fur.
