I love all kinds of outdoor activities including hiking, camping, and fishing. I have done a fair amount of canoeing in the distant past and would like to go more often in the future. I enjoy running both for fitness and competition. I especially like 10 mile and half marathon races. I've run one marathon and plan to run others. I just recently bought a bicycle to ride to work and for fun. I like to play card and board games, especially Chess and Spades. If we ever play a game of Trivial Pursuit you will want me as your partner.
I like to bake many kinds of bread--Rye, black, Italian herb--there is such an endless variety of delicious flavors, textures, and ingredients. Sourdough is my most recent loaf. I like to cook and am always seeking new and interesting dishes to experiment with. I am adventurous in trying to make different ethnic food at home. The end product usually works out well and even when it doesn't the process is fun. I haven't done a lot of traveling outside the U.S. but I have gone to a couple of interesting places that I'd love to talk about.
I have a dry sense of humor. I have a great job that I love working with people with mental retardation. Some of my favorite books are Catch 22, Candide, and The Name of the Rose. I probably read more non-fiction than fiction. Movies I can quote from memory include The Princess Bride, This is Spinal Tap, any Monty Python movie, and the Godfather. I can be a bit reserved on first meeting somebody knew but I am just a big kid at heart who enjoys water gun fights and playing H-O-R-S-E in the driveway with my kids.
I have three children who live with me part time. I want to meet someone to experience the outdoors enjoying nature and each other's company. A good conversationalist who is able to talk about a wide variety of ideas and perspectives. I am. newly divorce so I want to take anything slow and am looking for friends first. I'm very direct and honest and value those traits in others, too. I had to put an age range but I am flexible on that.
