my name is mandy.
i've started school recently with the ultimate goal of becoming an RN. i'm the kind of person who will do anything to help a person in need, even if they're a total stranger, so i figure i can't go wrong in nursing.
i'm looking for someone who doesn't play games, who's secure financially, and is friendly, loyal and romantic.
looks don't really matter much to me, but i want someone who can make me feel beautiful, despite my flaws. intelligence is important, too. i'm no genius, but i need to be able to carry on a conversation with you.
also, please be funny! there is nothing more attractive than someone who can make me laugh.
i'm an avid reader. i mostly read non-fiction, though some of my favorite books have been fictional. 'the bell jar', 'night', 'a heartbreaking work of staggering genius', '1984' 'johnny got his gun' and 'on the road' all make my list of favorites, along with just about anything by david sedaris and kurt vonnegut.
i'm very into music, too. i grew up listening to classic rock and older country (in fact, i was named after the waylon jennings song, 'amanda'). bob dylan is my all-time favorite, with pink floyd coming in a close second.
i want kids and marriage one day, but am not excited about the thought of dating someone with kids, though i haven't ruled out the possibility.
and, please, no creepy guys. i'm a good person with a good heart and good intentions, and i wish the same of you. i will not, under any circumstances, tolerate someone who cheats or is abusive.

**********edit: okay, a couple apparently necessary disclosures: 1- winks annoy me. if you want to talk to me, talk to me. you winking does nothing to make me want to chat with you. 2- if i don't respond to you after your first or second attempt, please don't send me 5 more messages; just accept that i'm not interested. i mean, i may have been initially, but i'm a busy girl with work and school so i don't always respond right away. so if there are several more messages within the next couple of days, i guarantee you i am now not interested, assuming i ever was. sending a ton of messages to someone you don't know is just plain creepy. 3- i am *not* looking for a cheap thrill, casual sex, etc. i have more respect for myself and my body than that. and please don't pretend you want to "date" me but only have sex in mind. i'm not stupid- i will figure you out. 4- if you absolutely *must* wink at me, why bother when you're 500 miles from me? seriously. i'm not moving and neither are you. don't waste your time. i've done the long-distance thing before and i don't intend to again-- especially when you're that far away. 30 miles is my limit, and even that doesn't thrill me. and finally, 5- i am not a b*tch, so i'm sorry if i come across that way. i just don't want to waste your time and mine. like i said, i'm a pretty busy person- i'm sure you are too. take care. -m.**********
