Theres a small island in Table Rock Lake in Missouri that I love to go camping on. The water is the perfect temperature for swimming in the summer. Every year I plan to gather persimmons from the trees on the island to bake with, but I usually get busy and don't get around to it. Last year, I moved to Abilene before they were ready.
I've lived many places and have favorite things about each and every one. Before Missouri, I lived in Washington State, before that - I was in California. I've been to see Mt Rushmore, Yellowstone Park and the Smithsonian Institute. The pow-wows in the Pacific Northwest are the best! If I were to die tomorrow, I would have no regrets because I have done so much, seen so much, been so many places, left my mark in so many ways, and had so much fun along the way!
There is so much beauty in our country, and someday, I'd like to go with someone special and either revisit and share those places, or discover new ones together. I love to take short road trips on long weekends.
I have designed and helped build (yes, literally) my own home, raised three wonderful kids (all born in California), published a cook book for people with R.A. and delivered another woman's baby in a convenience store.
I am currently in telecommunications, but before that I was a teacher for 12 years ( I love kids, and if YOU have kids, that's cool) and before that, I was in the Air Force.
Obviously, I'm not afraid of hard work or getting my hands dirty. At the moment, I am working on remodeling a fixer upper house that is also my home, so I live in a construction zone.
I am hoping to find someone out there with similar values - responsible, trustworthy, faithful.... I believe in treating people the way you would want to be treated. I am kind hearted and loyal and even though I've had my heart broken, I'm willing to give love another chance because I know you're out there somewhere. Honesty is a major requirement for me, so expect me to reserch the validity of everything you say until I know I can trust you. I would expect the same in return.
I am the kind of person who will go out of my way to help someone out. It's how I was raised, how I raised my kids, the example Christ set for us. My ideal partner will also feel that way.
I believe 2 people in a relationship should be each other's best friend. That means being there for them when they need, never embarassing them, giving advise when asked for, or just listening without judging or trying to give advise if the situation calls for that. You should be able to work together, play together, comfort each other, care for each other, communicate effectively with each other and even be comfortable just snuggling and daydreaming with each other. You should also be able to respect each others differences. Realize that any successful relationship requires both partners to work at it.
I believe every person is responsible for their own happiness. 10% of life is what happens, 90% is how you react to it. I also believe in being thankful to God for everything, good and bad, because if you wait and look for it, there are silver linings to every black cloud. A lot of people just never notice them, but I do.
On the lighter side, my kids are pretty much grown. My family is spread all over the country. I love the smell of fresh baking bread, any purple flower (such as lilacs or sweet pea), and (oddly maybe) the smell of tomato plants. I like the sound of babies laughter and the feel of soft grass under my feet.
