To my surprise, I've discovered that I'm not really looking for marriage - I think I'd prefer what the kids call a "friend with privileges". I've been divorced for many years, so I guess I'm spoiled. I truly enjoy my solitude and independence. I'm hoping to find a traveling companion, a lover, an involved with living, interesting, positive thinking, active, very good friend.
I was a college teacher and counselor, raised four sons, love reading, gardening, smart curious people, quilting, music (everything but rap and country), politics, cooking, and life in general.
I was an Army Brat so learned to act like an outgoing person, but I'm really rather private and shy. I'll be moving from the country to a small town (in KY) when (if) this place sells. It's been 20 years since I've been able to see neighbors, so I'm not sure how that's going to work out. I'm really going to miss my sheep and poultry, but at least I'll be able to travel, which I love.
This picture was taken on a recent trip to Africa. I think my strained look comes from relief at managing to climb that mountain and sit down. The guide showed me the wall where many older folks give up, shook my hand and pronounced me "a strong woman" - I wasn't at all sure I could make it!
Now I'm working out a trip to the Amazon River and the Galapagos Island with my granddaughter for her graduation. Maybe this Christmas, maybe next summer.
