I am an Aussie expatriate who is a US citizen living in Royal Oak, Mi.
I reside in Michigan because I work with the auto industry and I need to be near their corporate offices. I am going to retire very early in life(2008) to make sure I have time to tackle part 3 of the big adventure with new
eyes.
I have had two careers....one as a reporter for Reuters for a decade(Viet Nam, China, Africa) the second as an advertising executive located in Hong Kong representing one of the Big 3 automotive companies.
I was educated at Cambridge(UK) and Northwestern. Can't remember one thing specifically....but the total experiences gave me much courage to head into life without fear. For me, experience has been the best teacher.
I am a rotten cook and golfer but for the right chap I would make a great effort to perfect my skills in something low cut and fetching. Right now I am thinking...apple pie and perhaps black lace.
I am funny, not a snob, believe that love is comprised of respect, like interests, chemistry. I do not subscribe to love at first view. Rather, I think THAT is lust(which is fine) but often not THE sustaining factor in the most complete relationships. In addition I feel that humour is important in relationships...and the ability to laugh at self.
I am an avid reader....Wall STreet and the NY Times daily, trash novels at the beach, trade magazines about planes, trains, automobiles. I come from an airline family and grew up with an airplane engine roaring in the background. I still read poetry secretly because I am a romantic, and
think the absurdities of living make great stories. I travel a great deal and love Tucson, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Paris in the spring, Portugal, Northern Michigan, Greek islands, the Carolinas. I have a love affair with
beautiful car design, sleek buildings, jazz, flying. I love to walk every day,
think dogs are more enjoyable than cats, appreciate fine dining, and a
great NY hotdog.
I admire educated men but for me that includes those individuals who are self made, well spoken, not ashamed of having little formal training resulting in diplomas from august institutions but proud of their self won
achievements resulting from savvy, sweat, and intuitive smarts. I like a self assured gentleman with formal or informal training.
