A Wisconsin newspaper is reporting that residents are beginning to form committees to recall the senators who went missing this past week. So far, not one of the senators has slithered home but I bet it won’t be long. I would love to be at one of their town hall meeting when they finally have to face their constituents. Yow!

One particular senator (Robert Wirch) had better wear a wig to disguise himself because, according to news reports, the residents in his district are hopping mad.

BURLINGTON - Cheryl Herrick, 51, of Burlington, has a message for her “missing” state senator, Sen. Robert Wirch, D-Pleasant Prairie. “Come back and vote,” said Herrick, who works in retail. “Elections have consequences.”

Wirch, who represents Burlington and most of Kenosha County, is one of the 14 senate Democrats who fled Madison last week when the state Senate was scheduled to take a vote on Gov. Scott Walker’s proposal to essentially eliminate collective bargaining for public workers.

Wirch has not returned calls for comment for several days.

In downtown Burlington on Monday, the consensus among area residents selected at random was that Wirch should go back and vote. Many, including Herrick, said they would like to see Wirch recalled for avoiding his vote. By running away, he is not doing his job, said Kellie Kerkman, 39, of Burlington.

“All I see is this teaching our younger generation to run away from problems. It’s time to grow up,” said Kerkman, who owns Kerkman’s SplitEnds, a hair salon at 316 N Pine St.

Down the street, Carl Schultz, 61, of Twin Lakes, said Wirch should be fired for avoiding “his responsibility.”

He recalled firing a worker from his car part manufacturing business, Five Star Fabricating, for repeatedly missing work after receiving multiple warnings, he said.

“If they are hired to do a job, they should be there,” said Schultz, who feels that way about his employees and his state legislators.

And the possibility of a recall may become a reality.

Dan Hunt, 51, of Pleasant Prairie, where Wirch lives, is looking into forming a committee to recall the senator. So far he has 175 volunteers who have signed up to help circulate petitions to recall Wirch, he said as of Monday afternoon, but he said he would need about 300 volunteers to successfully launch a campaign. According to the Government Accountability Board he would need about 15,000 signatures for a recall election.

For now, Hunt said, he is waiting to see if Wirch goes back to vote.

“The longer he stays away, the greater the likelihood,” Hunt said of a recall effort

I say recall them all!

They shirked their duties, and ran like rabbits. I hope they get the cowards welcome they so richly deserve.

I love how people are trying to demonize the 14. I'm sure neighbors and friends are going to sign recalls against this group for standing up for work rights they have had for 50 years. Considering what the bastard did today it proves he never had any intention of working with them. The sleaze bag was out to bust the unions, period.

Go Wisconsin

I've gotta admit there is something about watching the American middle class slit it's own throat that is tragic and morbidly satisfying. Dumb f**ks deserve what's comin'. It's unfortunate that their stupidity will also cause MY throat to be slit. My support for organized labor has always been a selfish endeavor because my self interest is the working class cause. To watch these people elect criminals and then act surprised when they take it in the butt by big business... it's almost poetic. They thought their interest was the same as the interest of the rich and now they're being eaten by those snakes. Serves em right

If they were working for private companies, they would've been fired long ago. Of course they should be recalled.

Damn right, It's only fair that these working people be treated like shit like everyone else. How dare they assume people should be paid fairly and treated fairly. Who do they think they are? Humans or something?

Suddenly grand theft of the peoples' voice is not such a good idea. These 14 are surely crushed tonight. They were pawns on a bigger stage for Union collective bargaining.

You know what's really sad about this....Is all the people who listen to Obama and then lose their jobs. Don't misunderstand they deserve to for leaving but, after Mid term elections you'd think people would wake up and listen to what the people want them to do. So now we have more pink slips flying over Wisconsin.

Please with your melodrama. The workers in WI will be fine. They will have it better than federal employees even after all this is over. Last time I checked federal employees weren't living in the poor house.

@leslie: Yeah maybe if Obama had found his comfortable pair of shoes and stood arm in arm with the protestors like Michael Moore did, this would have turned out different. Where was he?

Good question Drum he made that promise to them didn't he. By now you'd think that Dems would start looking at the list of those he hasn't kept before shutting down a vote for 3 weeks. You have to know this isn't something they want on any future job applications. I fled the state with 13 others because Obama said to.

You are one cranky old hag. I recognized your sarcasm and I responded in that context. Your posts aren't that mysterious and deep, sorry. You guys fought a losing battle. This was really the only outcome but you people were too short-sighted to see it.

The OPERATIVE word being "efforts". They will fail. Fully 69% of WI supports the Dems, and are fed up with the GOP. The recalls of many REPUBLICANS will succeeed, though.

"Breaking News"

It is being reported from Gov J Browns office (D-Calif) that several Dem Senators from Wisconsin have requested Asylum in that State.
In an exclusive interview with Gov Browns spokesperson (B.S. Galore) we have learned that the Gov will welcome them with "Open Arms" and also welcomes thier expertise in dealing with Californias own Budget Shortfalls.
Galore also stated "Look, we have a helluva financial mess here in California and we don't dare piss off the Unions who got us elected. We are hoping the Senators can help us find a way to Raise Taxes while convincing our constituents that it will be good for them".
The Senators remain in Hiding and could not be reached for comments.

Have any of you people that are for any of this actually seen the numbers from Wis?

I'm guessing not since it clearly shows the state is behind the senators, and even more are in support of the collective bargaining rights of those workers.

This isn't the birther issue where you can just grab shit out of the air and claim it's credible. There are actually real numbers that show it's the right that will be paying the price for their actions.

But you people can keep throwing out your political talking point and spins all you want.
Lets see if America will stand in support of the right like they have for the left.

The Republicans are trying to strip everyone of their voting rights.
Even Republicans are in the cross hairs now.

You really do think like an emotionally immature boy don't you?

I'm 60 years old moron, with one partner for almost 29 years. And I was never into 'GIRLS'. One would hope you'd learn the difference between girls and women at least by 50, though I wouldn't hold out hope on that. You are not welcome to send me anything.

Be sure your next wife is aware of your talent for picking up hot women and taking porn shots to distribute on line.

I suggest you carry waivers for those hot women to sign releasing you from liability of damages suffered by distributing her image without her permission. To insure legality of the contract, you ought to pay her a dollar and sign it on camera before you make your moves and show how hot the 2 of you are bouncing around naked.

If you can find such a woman, you deserve her.
