I am posting this as a reminder to folk here who seem bent on attacking people's personal beliefs. It is DH Dustin's original post, at the top of this forum,... which hopefully people read. If not, here it is:

"This forum is for people to discuss religion. It isn't for people who aren't religious to attack people who are. If all you can do is argue with people you will definitely be banned. If religion isn't your thing then stay out of this forum.

Also, not everyone has the same beliefs. Don't argue with each other about which religion is better or who is right."

Dustin has left the site. No one cares a stuff about his crappy rules, which in any case were only devised to deter dissent and save himself moderating hassle. If a poster wishes to devise for themselves an echo chamber where they can expect only their own views to be reflected back at them, this sad state of affairs is easily achievable by judicious use of the block button. Strange that it's only ever fundamentalist Christians and their sympathisers who make a big deal out of the posting rules. It's almost as if they're trying to compensate for the embarrassing non-arrival of that famous day when every knee will bow..

I prefer anarchy myself.
For those who would rather be governed and subject to rules elect a forum captain or BLOCK.

Since when are forums designed to only present a particular point of view?

How can someone truthfully "discuss religion" ..... if the claims that the religious are off limits to rebuttal?

You are not looking for a religious forum ..... you are looking for a internet pulpit to replace the one you previously held in the real world ..... to bark out your dogma like a snake oil salesman.

The mods obviously do not agree with you on this point ..... allowing people to make claims but outlawing criticism is not what this forum is about.

And by the way ..... Dustin sold this site quite a while ago.

Peace

If you are unable to hear dissenting opinions without your feelings being hurt, I would recommend the christians only forum.
I'm certain there is no strife in that forum*

Got to love america where one can question if religion even matters anymore.
Some people dont want religion however, that doesn't stop religion from being shoved into peoples lives.
How about making people feel guilty about being godless.
Nothing worse than a person especially a religious person hearing or reading an opinion they dont agree with.
Childish is what that is.

There are many different religions in the world, Christianity is just one. Muslims, Hinduism, Buddhism etc are all religions too.

The religion forum is for each to have a place to state their different beliefs, or why they disagree with certain beliefs.

Not everyone is going to accept and like what you say. You just have to accept that and go on with life. But disagreeing is not arguing.

I'm a believer in Jesus Christ- I hesitate to say Christian anymore, and the way I feel about things right now - I'm better off just following Jesus and letting the "dead bury their dead" (no offense to any here, I'm speaking of the members of church denominations and some of the members of the Christian Group).

I'm not interested in all of the trappings (rules and regulations of any church denomination. After all those rules and regulations are what Jesus called the leaven of the Pharisees).

If the people who took over DH from Dustin felt that these rules were unreasonable, wouldn't they by now have changed them? They must agree with them.

Re-quoting Dustin's rules:

"This forum is for people to discuss religion. It isn't for people who aren't religious to attack people who are."

I'm not wanting to "outlaw" criticism, Sail. All I'm asking is for folk to think on this, and be fair. And not resort to using derogatory terms, name calling, and abusive language when you disagree with something someone posts.

Think we can do that?

I feel that blocking isolates, and it is much better to communicate.

But of course, there will always be those who beg to be blocked, and are.

Sometimes it's necessary to block members who are excessively rude, 'cause otherwise they can drag the level of conversation into a bottomless pit of heckling and counter heckling. It's poor.

Jesus did urge us to pour our hearts out to God. He even gave us an example, a framework upon which to pray.

"Our Father,......"

It was only after the resurrection that Jesus referred to His disciples as brothers.

For those who may not have had the best of earthly parenting, this is both difficult and also a relief.

Difficult in that the word "father" may not bring to mind the most pleasant memories.

A relief in that we know a Heavenly Father loves us and will always do what is best for us.

Many Christians long to look upon the face of a Heavenly Father.

This is the way I see it Walt. No one has to respect my beliefs. And, no, I do not respect all beliefs. Including some who share the same label as I.

But I strongly believe that one must respect the right for another to believe as they do. Or not believe.

And just because a person is not Religous, does not mean they do not have an interest in Religion.

With the nonsense that has gone in France the last couple days, with whackos insulted by slights to their beliefs, shooting people? It is more important than ever, to protect free speech and opinion, unless it is racist and hate mongering.

If Atheists think I am dumb for believing in "fairy tales", well they have that right. And if some of the exclusionary Christian types want to insist another is not Christian? They as well have that right.

And we have the right to debate them, if one is so inclined. That is why this is called a Forum.

I just simply have a hard time getting "inspired " to argue the never ending battles between atheists and believers. So do not come here much any more.

I'm deeply religious about my natural environment , the more I learn , the more I love .

The more I learn about plants , and animals , the more I learn about myself . I know exactly what makes all humans , plants , and animals , behave the way they do .

Everything that lives has intelligence , they could'nt live without it . Anything that has great intelligence will dominate everything that does'nt . Humans are the only species on earth that can use its intelligence to benefit something other than itself . All my hopes , and dreams , is that the day will come .
