Supernatural phenomenon

The supernatural (Medieval Latin: supernaturalis: supra "above" + naturalis "nature", first used: 1520–30 AD) is that which is not subject to the laws of physics or, more figuratively, that which is said to exist above and beyond nature. In philosophy, popular culture and fiction, the supernatural is associated with the paranormal, religions and occultism. It has neoplatonic and medieval scholastic origins.
What sort of supernatural phenomenon do you believe exist ghosts? flying firebreathing dragons? Vampires ? Alchemy ? Harry Potter type magic ? Do you think human beings can fly without mechanical assistance ? Do the souls of dead people communicate with living people?

State your beliefs and the reasoning behind them.

I believe in the supernatural ability of Catholic and Eastern Orthodox priests to forgive sins, and in their supernatural ability to change bread and wine into Jesus' actual living Body and Blood. The priests gain these powers at their Ordination and would not have them unless God gave these powers to them.

I don't see why he couldn't, if God gave him the power. I know that St. Padre Pio had the supernatural power, from God of course, to be in two places at one time.

Why are we afraid to believe in miracles?

There is no fear it's just illogical .
Why are these miracles all happening in the bible so often and never happen now in front of witnesses ?

Certain things seemingly supernatural ,can be explained scientifically. Which makes them natural under certain conditions, therefore not supernatural at all.

Why would God lack the power to allow someone to fly, if God so willed?

Because there's no evidence that God/s exist or that miracles ever happen.

From Padre Pio's Wiki page. An anecdotal story explainable as a hallucination by a fellow priest who was also steeped in supernatural beliefs.

Padre Domenico da Cese, a fellow Capuchin stigmatist, reported that on Sunday, September 22, 1968, he saw Padre Pio kneeling in prayer before the Holy Face of Manoppello, although it was known that Padre Pio had not left his room.

Because embracing superstitious beliefs in the supernatural can make people do wicked and cruel things, as evidenced by Christian history with its burnings of witches and heretics.

"Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."

The UB is a very minor religious phenomenon. worldwide believers in the book would fill an average telephone booth and half of those aficiondos amazingly happen to post on DH it seems. I'm reading the book currently but must admit having to leaven the monotony by interspersing some decent literature. Even a tabloid newsrag is good, comparatively.

Running out of insults, Ron?

How many threads have you posted this nonsense? You are a proving yourself to be an irrational christian troll who cannot control his hate and bigotry.

Do you ever make posts relevant to a threads topic?

I think that the word "supernatural" is sort of a nonsense word in a way. It is used to give an answer to things we don't yet understand. When you say something is supernatural you are really saying that you just don't understand the natural reason for the phenomena...... whatever it is.
