Alexander The Great was bi-sexual, and was f**ked to death by a gay lover.

Napoleon Bonaparte was slowly poisoned to death by a cuckolded husband who gave Nappy Arsenic in small doses, which shriveled his d*ck up, and made it fall off before Nappy died.

The demi-god of legend-Hercules-was a bisexual who went on his various quests after getting drunk, and raping his best friend (male) to death.

What is it with you and gay love?

Anyway, Alexander the Great was indeed bi-sexual, but he was most likely poisoned to death. The two competing theories considered most reputable involve Alexander drinking in the palace of Nebuchadnezzar II, the first theory said he developed a fever and died a few days later, the second stated he developed severe stomach pains after drinking and died.

A recent archeological dig has unearthed the mummified remains of the very first herpes victim. It's believed the cross dressing king contracted herpes from a cheating husband whom he/she met on the ancient dating site DateHerpUp according to Egyptian hieroglyphs found at the recently excavated grave site. A Polaroid photograph was found in the sarcophagus along with the mummified remains of the once infected cross dresser. Film at 11

The Best Micro-USB Cable

http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-micro-usb-cable/

No ferrite beads = no buy.

I use my PCs for music work, and getting EMI in through attached USB cables is unacceptable. There are enough of cheaper cables that do have ferrite chokes.

I'd love to hear for how you're passing an analog signal over a USB cable.
Equipment like mixers with ADC -> USB use USB-B not micro USB so this cable couldn't be used either way.

Ferrite beads are meant to suppress the noise from other components on the same analog rail. This doesn't affect digital signal transmission, but external EMI can on cheap, poorly shield cables with low quality conductor materials. That's why cheap cables use ferrite cores, and it should be seen as a warning sign.

You have absolutely no electronic experience, nor any experience with the USB 2.0/3.0/3.1 standards?
I'm an electronics engineer, for what it's worth. Trust me on this, but the ground on the USB cable gets connected to the ground of your computer, including the ground for your analog inputs. EMI is transmitted, and really needs to be filtered. Bad USB cables is one of the leading causes of hiss and noise for computers used for audio work.
And no, it's not the cheap cables that have ferrite chokes. Rather the opposite. The ones I use cost around $30. Not $8.

I did my thesis for my physics degree on "The Physics of Audio Interconnects". If we went to the same university, it's very possible I tutored you. If you don't know who you are talking to, it's probably not wise to assume their knowledge or experience.

I maintain that you are confusing this Micro USB cable with a USB B connector. Analog devices that have a USB don't have micro USB connectors, they typically have USB B connectors, and occasionally full size USB A. This cable won't work for that unless you're using an adapter, in which case you're doing it wrong.

This is a micro USB cable. It doesn't connect to your signal processors, mixers, or controllers, it connects to your phones, tablets, and other consumer digital devices. There isn't a point to using a ferrite core if you need high speed digital transmission. You need quality conductors with higher gauge. I challenge you to show me a $30 micro USB cable with a ferrite core. You'll find it can't be done as they have different needs than the typical USB B cable.

There were certainly no one named Singh at my alma mater back in the early 70s. Different times. Women weren't even allowed tenure back then.
I think you repeatedly miss that the USB connector doesn't have to "connect to your signal processors, mixers, or controllers". The EMI follows signal ground to your D/A converter even if it has nothing to do with the USB connector.

As for your challenge, I normally would say "do your own research", but here's one from Sony:

The cable you're showing is $7, is a low-end 28 - 30 AWG, and can be found online for $2. Another thing you wouldn't be able to find is an analog device with micro-USB.

It seems you may be contending that there might be a set up where someone plugs the micro USB cable into a micro USB device and the same computer that connects to an analog device. If I'm following correctly, you're saying the EMI from the connection between the first device and the middle device will be transmitted to the analog device. Correct me if I'm misinterpreting.

There are two problems with this contention since the devices on the micro end are consumers of power. First, the device on the micro USB end isn't generating the high frequency noise that ferrite cores reduce. Second, the high frequency noise that the ferrite cores reduce will be produced by the computer whether on battery (as there's a down-conversion) or especially when plugged in due to the transformers. You'll certainly be aided by a ferrite core on the USB-A to USB-B cable going from the computer to the analog device. Everything you're filtering out is coming from the computer, not a device connected to the micro USB connector.

Perhaps I'm wrong and somewhere out there is a device that has a transformer and uses a micro USB port. Perhaps you also find some obscure analog device with a DAC that uses USB-A instead of USB-B ports. Perhaps this mystical device also doesn't have isolated circuitry. Then you'd benefit from some ferrite.

Since I am an EE with expertise in EMI testing, I'm going to chime in on this discussion and say Mr. Singh is correct. The actual purpose of ferrite beads is to reduce digital noise from devices coupling onto a cable and being radiated, so the device can pass FCC emissions testing. As he points out, USB is used for digital transmission and is unlikely to pick up anything that's going to affect analog path SNR.

Though I do not have a clue about anything you all are talking about, I enjoyed reading it and want to say thank you for having a real conversation instead of a trolling insult-laden trash talk. It is quite refreshing.
