Gotta love it!

Ironically (or not), its called...

American Horror Story: Cult

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Horror_Story:_Cult#Episodes

In February 2017, on Watch What Happens Live, Murphy announced that the season would revolve around the 2016 U.S. election and suggested that it willfeature a character based on President Donald Trump.[34] Murphy has said that the season will be representative of both sides of the political divide. He also said that he will be "illuminating and highlighting" groups of people he believes to be "ignored by the current [Trump] administration and who are afraid and feel terrorized that their lives are going to be taken away."[35]

It was later confirmed that the season would be set in the aftermath of the presidential election, with the first episode taking place on election night.[13][17] Murphy explained it will be about "the fallout of that night, which to many people, from all sides of the camps is a horror story."[14] He also revealed the season will not feature Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton, stating "Horror Story is always about allegory, so the election is allegory."[14] In April 2017, Murphy confirmed that archive footage of the election night is going to be used in the season premiere.[36]

'American Horror Story: Cult' Explores Trump's Rise and What He Tapped Into

Ryan Murphy knows viewers have anxiety about the politics in the upcoming election-themed season of his FX anthology American Horror Story: Cult — and that's entirely the point of the season.

"The election is the jumping-off point of the show, but it's really about the rise of a cult of personality," the showrunner told reporters Friday following a press screening of the first three episodes of season seven.

This season of the FX drama has been described as a "true American horror story," with Murphy noting it would tackle the "national conversation and both the euphoria and the fear" surrounding the election. But it will not feature a single point of view, the noted Democrat has said in the past about season seven of his game-changing drama. AHS regulars Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters star as Ally Mayfair-Richards and Kai Anderson, respectively. Paulson's character, who is married to Ivy Mayfair-Richards (played by franchise newcomer Alison Pill), suffers from multiple phobias, including coulrophobia, or a fear of clowns. The first three episodes, which were screened for reporters Friday, revealed that the election serves as a trigger for Paulson's Ally.

Cult opens on election night 2016 and features the reaction from Clinton supporters (Paulson and Pill), as well as the Trump camp (Peters, who this season plays cult leaders Kai, Charles Manson, David Koresh, Andy Warhol and Jim Jones). Murphy repeatedly stressed that "pro or con, everyone can relate to the feelings" portrayed on the show on election night. "Part of being an artist is being able to write about the world you live in. But we've tried very careful to be fair," he noted. "We're not burning people in effigy or anything extreme."

In crafting season seven, Murphy explained that he was originally drawn to the idea of cults and had tried for many seasons before to explore the world of Manson. However, in designing this season and facing the challenges of exploring Manson, he quickly realized that the presidential election would instead serve as a better entry point to the story he wanted to explore. "We're trying to understand how someone who is very charismatic in the culture can rise up and become a leader. We're not going to say we hate Trump," said Murphy. "What did Trump tap into? We're interested in his rise and how that happened."

The showrunner — who also has American Crime Story and Feud at FX, as well as Fox's upcoming 9-1-1 procedural and other shows in the works — ultimately hopes that Cult starts a conversation about what's going on in America today. "Everybody lost their shit after the election, and people are still losing their shit, and there is no real discussion, and everyone is still at each other's throats," he said. "The world we're living in is ridiculous, so a sense of humor is needed."

Murphy, who remains plugged into the social media conversation surrounding Cult, had some advice to viewers who have said they plan to check out of the franchise because of its political theme this year. "The great thing about a TV set is it can be turned on and off, if people don't feel like they're going to learn anything from it," he said.

"I do think politics has become entertainment, in a weird way," Murphy said, noting that the discussion in the show's writers room after the election shifted to focus almost entirely on politics, versus the more lighthearted banter (like Bravo programming, he joked) before November.

The Cult cast also includes Teen Wolf alum Colton Haynes (who plays a police officer), Scream Queens grad Billie Lourd (who has ties to Peters' character) and Lena Dunham, who guest-stars as Valerie Solanas, also known as the woman who shot Andy Warhol. Billy on the Street's Billy Eichner recurs; Adina Porter, Cheyenne Jackson (who will play a therapist), Frances Conroy, Mare Winningham and Emma Roberts round out the cast. As for AHS original leading lady Jessica Lange, Murphy said he's "sure she will come back to the show" one day (with the same being true for other stars, like Kathy Bates, who are taking this season off).
FX pulled out all of the stops for marketing the season. For the last six weeks, the studio has dropped a series of clues — including character sketches and names, clips, images and eventually the trailer — through an extensive interactive online campaign. A real-life activation in Philadelphia and the title reveal at Comic-Con have also played into the promotional fun.

American Horror Story: Cult premieres Sept. 5 on FX and will consist of 11 episodes.

NO WAY!

I had the exact same thought the first time that I saw trailer!

OOF! Clowns...why did it have to be clowns?! I hope that this is kind of a prequel to Freakshow. That clown rocked. My neighbor sews and I want her to make me that clown suit for Halloween.

I said from Day 1 that Donny had that Jim Jones vibe working for him.

Its really the only reason he won. All the Nazis, redneck inbreds, and white supies came out of their caves, waited for their eyes to adjust to the sunlight, then hitched up the wagons to go to town, and vote for their newfound Lord and Savior.

Think what you want but his desire to trample the constitution hurt the Democratic party as well as the country.
just like Nixon it may take multiple elections for the Dems to recover.
It's the swing votes that ultimately decide.

Already mentioned this months ago. It just starts on election night. It's not really about the election otherwise. Also they said the election wills et off a nightmare, so sounds to me like the cult is NOT on trump's side or they would not consider it a nightmare that he won.

Excellent!

Every time Hollywood goes political the people are more repulsed.

Nothing like smug elites living behind gated communities with armed guards, drinking champagne c*cktails and eating caviar served to them by their "undocumented" servants to tell us what's "politically correct".

Deplorable nation thanks you from the bottom of our hearts.

I saw on IMDB boards (before the morons decided to get rid of their boards) tons of people who couldn't stand whenever they'd slip politics into it or Scream Queens (same guy is/was behind both) and it sounds like this is going to have an even more blatant political story line than those.

I am still going to watch it and hope it doesn't go overboard, though... I have watched all of the 6 seasons so far and all were very good, except last season was the worst of them, so it could be headed downhill and I saw many on IMDB, back when it was RUMOREWD season 7 would be political, that they would not watch it if it is.

Tonight is the season premiere. I am not sure if I will watch them each week or record them all and binge watch, though. Gonna have to hope idiot Ryan Murphy didnt go overboard on politics. Liberals aren't too bright, though, so they don't comprehend that angering half the population means losing half your money.

Looks like liberals fail again. I haven't watched it yet, but I see on IMDB that episode 1 is rated far worse than any episode I've ever seen rated on there for the previous 6 seasons of the show. lol.

I watched it out of curiosity.
Was not scary at all and very cheesy.
The main characters are lesbian Hillary supporters.
The bad guy is a racist Trump supporter.
Typical liberal entertainment.
FX is only good for movies.
Also tried watching The Strain and it was terrible.

AMC has better network shows.
Was sad when Breaking Bad ended.
I will stick to The Walking Dead,
Has a awesome plot line with guns and weapons blazing in every other scene.
They don't talk about politics, but you know the main characters are conservative.
Rick is great leader and knows how to round his team.

If you havent seen past seasons of AHS, they are all good, although season 6 was very annoying. Like I said, on IMDB the season 7 premiere is rated bad compared to other AHS episodes.... so it's not the series, it's this dumb season. Many on IMDB knew it would suck if the rumors were true that it was about the election.

It's been a while since I watched AHS.
Saw a bunch of episodes featuring Lady GaGa that was pretty decent, while in jail and living a horror story.
Seems like each season has nothing to do with the rest.

Was it last season or the one where they lived in a hotel? I am assuming the hOtel seaosn, which is the one I just finished recently (watched the seasons in the order of 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 5).

They are mostly unrelated seasons, except a cameo here and there on a couple of them from characters from past seasons.

Most people hated the Hotel seaosn, but I thought it was good.

TV show triggers little-known phobia

It was supposed to be a fun lunch outing in the Big Apple with her mother and grandmother. But when Jennifer Andresen saw an advertisement for this season's "American Horror Story" on the side of a New York taxi, she had to pull her car over, and fast.
"I was having a full-blown panic attack," said Andresen, who lives in Norwalk, Connecticut. "My pulse was racing. I was so nauseous. I thought I would throw up. My mother and grandmother were like, 'What is wrong with you?' I didn't want to ruin my family's day, but I couldn't help myself."

What Andresen has is trypophobia, an intense, irrational fear of small holes and clusters of circles and bumps, such as those in a honeycomb, lotus flower or bubble bath. The phobia is a key part of this season's "American Horror Story: Cult," as the main character, Ally Mayfair Richards (played by Sarah Paulson), is overwhelmed in the first episode by some holes in her soufflé and a coral in her therapist's office that she feels is staring at her.

"My husband and I were watching 'American Horror Story,' and I didn't have any idea what the show would be about," Andresen said, her voice rising nervously. "The piece of coral she saw freaked me out so badly that I had to tell my husband. Up to now, I've kept it to myself because it seemed so silly, so odd."

Andresen has general anxiety and "a bit" of obsessive-compulsive disorder, so her family was comforting. But that's not the reaction she gets from others. Other people say, 'What is wrong with you?' They don't understand," Andresen said. "But it's like anything else people can get upset about. People are scared of spiders, heights, clowns, and I'm scared of this. It's an actual phobia. It's real. It's definitely not a joke."

"American Horror Story" is promoting its new season widely, with bizarre images of body parts and clowns photo-edited full of holes. (The main character is also scared of clowns.) It was one of those large posters -- an image of a woman's face licking upward with a tongue riddled with holes -- that triggered Andresen.

"With the media exposure from 'American Horror Story,' it's going to get worse, and people are going to try to trigger us," said Sue M. of Hampshire, England. Sue, who has suffered from trypophobia since she was 5, did not want her last name to be used. "I've seen an exponential increase of trigger images on Facebook and across the Internet," Sue said. "We'd had people join our Facebook support group, be welcomed into the community and then post a trigger picture and do harm to the group.

"Why do people do that? I suppose they enjoy seeing the reaction," she mused. "They are not only bullies but cowards as well, hiding behind their false name and the anonymity of the Internet."

A lifetime of aversions

Sue's first memory of disgust came when tripe, or cow stomach -- a common English staple full of indentations -- was placed in front of her at the dinner table. Despite an "idyllic" childhood and no signs of anxiety, her aversions grew. "Honeycomb, watermelon, pomegranates, corn on the cob," said Sue, now 54. "I loved corn, but not on the cob, because it left holes. I thought I was just being quirky."

A nurse for over 30 years, Sue also had difficulty when caring for certain skin conditions on her patients. "I started to notice a pattern with an aversion to rashes, eczema and the like," Sue said. "I thought, 'Just kick your backside, get on with it.' " Her disorder exploded a few years ago, when various images of holes and clusters photo-edited onto human skin went viral across the internet.

"That's the moment I realized I had a phobia. Someone had taken a lotus seed and Photoshopped it on someone's shoulder. I looked at it and felt sick, pulse racing, skin felt itchy. It stayed with me for weeks and weeks and weeks, and every time I thought about it," she said, "it made me sick."

Like Sue's, Andresen's fear of holes started as a child.

"I remember when I was little, a Disney movie came on, 'The Thirteenth Year,' where the boy turns into a merman," Andresen recalled. "But it looked like little holes on his skin, and I went crying to my mother." She feels her anxiety and OCD could make her trypophobia worse, but she's not certain. After all, the aversions to holes began long before her other symptoms. "It bothers me that I can't look at a picture, like a lotus flower," said Andresen. "It's like it's crawling on me, like the picture is on me. I get dizzy, I feel nauseated, and my head hurts. I have an anxiety attack times a thousand, like I'm jumping out of my skin.

"I have a baby and a 9-year-old, and when I'm with my kids, it can ruin the moment if we are doing something special. At one of the playgrounds, there is a honeycomb-looking thing, and I can't take them to play there anymore." Andresen is a nurse as well but has yet to face an issue while caring for patients. If that were to happen, she said, she hopes some of her coping mechanisms work.

"I try to breathe, and I try to focus on something else in my head," Andresen said.

"There've been times recently that I had to take anti-nausea medication. Sometimes, I have to get in the shower because I feel so itchy. And then I relax and cool down." Sue also relies on her coping techniques to counter any triggers. "Distraction works best for me: cute animal pictures, relaxing music, or I call a friend, anything to take my mind off it," Sue explained. "But in the early days, I wasn't that successful. Initially, you're drawn to the image, and you are transfixed. Then shock, horror, hot flushing, like you're going to vomit, and then you have to turn away. And it's not only the image. Even the narrative description can be enough."

Why holes and clusters?

http://www.cnn.com/2017/09/13/health/trypophobia-fear-of-holes-bumps-clusters/index.html

Research into trypophobia is limited. Among the first to study the fear were psychological scientists Arnold Wilkins and Geoff Cole of the University of Essex in Colchester, England. In a paper published in 2013, they presented the theory that many of the world's most dangerous animals, such as alligators, crocodiles, snakes and poisonous fish, have clusters of bumps and holes on their skin. Perhaps the aversion could be some sort of innate flight-fight response to dangerous or poisonous animals?

University of Kent postgraduate researcher Tom Kupfer had a different notion. "Those images look to me like they would be perceived as cues to infectious disease or parasites," said Kupfer, who studies the emotion of disgust and the role it plays in our daily lives. "I wouldn't be surprised if this is actually a disorder based on disgust and disease avoidance."

To prove his point, Kupfer studied reactions to images of leprosy, smallpox and measles, which show up as small bumps and clusters on the skin. "Smallpox alone killed millions of millions of people, so if a human ancestor was predisposed to attend to those bumps, to dislike them and stay away from them," said Kupfer, "that could provide a survival advantage."

"It can also have something to do with decay," said An Lee, a doctoral student who worked on both studies. "For example, mold on bread or vegetables have certain visual cues and characteristics that are similar to trypophobic stimuli. So, while we're not completely sure yet, it does seem to be some kind of evolutionary trait that will help or facilitate survival."

A phobia few discuss openly

No one knows how many people have trypophobia, but based on extrapolation from recent studies, Lee believe the numbers could be quite high. "I'd say about 5% of the population has shown some kind of reaction to these images," Lee said, "ranging from very severe reactions to mild dislike. It's similar to other conditions and phobias and anxiety disorders where you see a large range within the population."

According to Cole and Wilkins, the level of disgust with trypophobia increases if the holes are on human skin. That might explain the intense reactions of many sufferers to the "American Horror Story" advertisements, which tend to focus on faces with photo-edited holes. There are also a number of trypophobia "trigger" sites on the Internet, where people post images of holes, bubbles and clusters, including many graphically added to human body parts. That makes it tough for someone with the condition to research trypophobia on the Internet without falling victim to an attack.

"A lot of that is click bait, just a way to get clicks and comments," Sue said. "But they don't understand the impact they have." She suggests searching for "trypophobia without triggers" or disabling the images on your computer. There are also private Facebook support groups, like this one that Andresen and Sue visit, that a person with symptoms can join for advice and support.

"People come into the group and say 'Thank God! I have a name for what is wrong with me. I'm not going mad. I'm not alone anymore,' " Sue said.

Both women hope the current attention on trypophobia will help others with the condition find support and encourage researchers to begin medical studies to understand how to help those with the disorder.

"I want to know why I have it and is there a way to get over it," Andresen said. "At least 'American Horror Story' is getting the phobia out there and letting people know what it is. Maybe this will give people a better understanding of what we live with."
"Hopefully, it will jump-start research," Sue said. "But it could also backfire. Trypophobics don't tend to talk to anyone without trypophobia because nobody gets it. If there is a lot of negative reaction and triggering behavior it could damage progress by driving people back underground."

I finally just watched the first three episodes and am liking it.

viper would be too scared to watch it, 1. because it's horror and 2. because it mocks the extreme liberals as well and the main character of the show is going nuts due to Trump winning, basically having a nervous breakdown, aka snowflake.

It's too early to say 100% if they are going to go low with the overall message. So far it's basically liberals panicking and saying such things as gay marriage and abortion rights will be lost and that basically the world is practically coming to an end and it's "dangerous to be brown" etc... lol.

But at the same time it makes those liberals look pretty dumb and also some guy in it bought a lot of guns because he said O was going to take them away. SO it's kind of mocking both sides, but you can't say for sure until all episodes have aired because I am on the fence as to whether it's really mocking both sides or if its going to blame all conservatives. For instance, it seems like it's headed towards the cult brainwashing people into being afraid of other people. But also.... it seems that some people in the cult are going to be legit liberal, so I don't think it's going to be really anti-Trump as much as it's going to be anti-extremists from both sides.

I am getting some good laughs out of it, though. For instance the main liberal character is now being accused of being a racist by other liberals. lol. My theory is they aren't really liberals and are playing the part of nutty liberals, but either way it's funny because they acted just like real life moron liberals. And basically the main character is acting like the conservatives she used to assume about.

I didn't read any of it, but I agree with you.

V's ability to copy and paste exceeds my patience to read such dribble.

BTW, Viper, I see gas is $2.85 in the Jeannette area. I just tanked up 16.9 gallons for $37.17.

You can do the math.

Based on your posts, I have to ask..

Did your mother ever have any children that lived? You must be a zombie, it's the only way you wouldn't notice time stamps on everything.

I'm not projecting anything. Just telling the truth about most of your posts being about kids...

Sounds like you're trying to deflect from your creepy posts about young girls.

Clearly you haven't been reading these topics. I have never mentioned kids, but viper constantly does. It seems as if he is obsessed with them. I only say I want to date adults, which is a big difference. Now your post is making me suspicious about you, as well.

Blah. Now I am bored waiting on the next episode and it's really a lot better watching this show all in a short period. I may just keep doing this where I wait until every 3 episodes have aired and watch 3 at a time. I'm still figuring it will end up where conservatives are causing all the probs, but we already know early on that a brother and sister are both in the cult and one is a conservative and one is a liberal who tried to get Hillary elected. My guess is it will turn out that the conservatives are still all the bad guys and brainwashed those poor innocent liberals, of course..........
